Job summary

Memphis Shelby County Schools seeks a capable administrator to assist in the overall management of an elementary school, including supervising staff, planning programs, and supporting instructional excellence. The role involves coordination of safety, budgeting, and compliance with district policies to foster a productive educational environment.

The candidate will act in the Principal’s absence, oversee personnel, and drive school-wide initiatives, testing programs, and community engagement

Qualifications

• Requires a master’s degree in educational administration or supervision from an accredited college or university.
• State certification in Administration/Supervision at the elementary and/or secondary level, Educational Leadership, or an equivalent certification as defined by the Tennessee Department of Education.
• Requires 3 to 5 years of successful teaching experience with some demonstrated leadership experience.
• An equivalent combination of training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered ( Examples: Adult Higher Education, MBA, Organizational Management, and Public Administrations)

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations and administration of assigned elementary school; assumes responsibilities of the Principal in his or her absence.
• Supervise staff members, including establishing staffing standards, evaluating work, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Develop and implement staff training and development programs.
• Plan and implement school-wide programs, policies, goals and objectives; ensure policy adherence to standards.
• Coordinate and implement required standardized testing programs.
• Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary.
• Provide leadership for extracurricular activities and coordinate special programs and events.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports required by law and district policies.
