Job summary

Shelby County Schools in Memphis, TN seeks an Assistant Principal to assist in the overall administration of an elementary school. You will supervise professional, paraprofessional, administrative and support staff, and help plan, implement and evaluate programs to create an effective instructional environment focused on student growth.

The role requires a master’s degree in educational administration or supervision, valid state certification, and 3–5 years of teaching with leadership

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in educational administration or supervision from an accredited college or university.
• State certification in Administration/Supervision at the elementary and/or secondary level, Educational Leadership, or equivalent.
• Requires 3 to 5 years of successful teaching experience with some leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and administration of assigned elementary school; act in the Principal’s absence.
• Supervise staff including selecting, evaluating, counseling and disciplinary actions; prepare performance evaluations.
• Develop and implement staff training and development programs and opportunities.
• Assist in planning and implementing school-wide programs, policies, goals and objectives and ensure policy adherence.
• Coordinate school calendars and schedules and maintain school-wide textbook accountability.

Education

Master’s degree in educational administration or supervision

State certification in Administration/Supervision
