Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a dedicated on-site Food Service Kitchen Manager to oversee meal preparation and service in an elementary school. The role involves supervising kitchen staff and student helpers, managing orders, and ensuring meals meet nutrition requirements while maintaining fiscal balance.

The position requires high school graduation with district food service experience and a current Food and Beverage Handler's Permit. Monday–Friday work hours and full benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; two years in district food service preferred.
• Knowledge of nutrition and safety procedures is essential.
• Ability to plan and prepare meals and manage time within schedules.
• Experience with cashier duties and kitchen management within a district is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare meals for students and staff according to menus.
• Assign duties and create weekly work schedules for kitchen staff.
• Monitor records and daily meal tickets; maintain accurate documentation.
• Keep a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Maintain Menu Planning Workbook and estimate future food quantities.
• Prepare weekly bread/dairy/meat orders and monthly grocery orders.
• Sign invoices and time slips and report to Food Services office.
