Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an on-site Cook Manager for an elementary school. This role oversees meal preparation, staff supervision, and daily kitchen operations to maintain a positive fiscal balance.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with district experience, and a current Food and Beverage Handler's Permit. Hours are 6:30am–3:00pm, Monday–Friday, with full benefits for 1.0 FTE.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of successful food service experience in the district.
• Recent cashier and cook manager duties experience preferred within the district.
• Ability to follow USDA, state and district rules and policies.

Responsibilities

• Plans and prepares meals for students and staff according to menus.
• Assigns duties and creates weekly schedules; trains kitchen staff.
• Monitors recordkeeping and daily meal tickets.
• Keeps a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Maintains Menu Planning Workbook and estimates monthly quantities.
• Prepares weekly orders for bread, dairy, meat and related products; handles monthly groceries orders.
• Signs invoices, time slips and reports and submits to Food Services office.
