Job summary

Qualifications

• One year of college required; two years preferred.
• Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Current restraint program certification.
• Basic understanding of child growth and development.
• Alternatives to above qualifications as the Principal may find appropriate or acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up by the teacher.
• Implement student behavior plans.
• Monitor identified health concerns in collaboration with teacher and nurse.
• Assist with toileting/personal care/hygiene when necessary.
• Assist with data collection, portfolios, and work samples.
• Help organize desks, homework, class Work, and materials.
• Consult with teachers and other service providers as applicable.
• Facilitate student social interaction.
