Job summary

York County School Division is seeking a Para-Educator/Teacher Assistant for Dare Elementary School. The role supports the classroom teacher by reinforcing skills, monitoring student progress, and performing duties under the teacher’s and principal’s supervision.

Minimum qualifications include 18+, HS diploma or GED, and related experience or coursework. Strong communication skills and ability to work with students, teachers, and parents are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED required
• Two years of work experience with children or two years of coursework, or training within 60 days of hire
• Bachelor's degree qualifies for Tier Two
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

• Substitute for the classroom teacher for short periods under guidance
• Assist with daily instructional routines and monitor attendance
• Reinforce skills taught by the teacher to individuals or small groups
• Help students with assignments and provide academic support
• Collect progress information and communicate with the teacher
• Monitor students under supervision of teacher or administrator
• Assist in bus, cafeteria, hall duty, or other assignments
• Prepare instructional materials and maintain a safe, clean classroom
• Participate in safety drills and staff development
• Perform other duties as assigned
