Job summary

Lighthouse Community Public Schools seeks an Elementary Literacy & Language Interventionist & Specialist (TOSA) to improve language acquisition and reading outcomes for TK-5 students in Oakland. The role includes coaching teachers, delivering professional development, and coordinating ELD and structured phonics initiatives.

Responsibilities include MTSS/ELD teaching, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with school leaders to ensure high-quality literacy instruction and equity for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required; Master's in Education preferred.
• California teaching credential required or transfer from another state.
• 3+ years of teaching in urban school settings (K-8) is highly preferred.
• 2+ years of coaching and/or school leadership experience preferred.
• Experience with curriculum planning and data-analysis; Google apps familiarity; Spanish language skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach MTSS Intervention/ELD; design data-based reading interventions; train teachers on literacy curricula.
• Coach and develop adults, culture and teams; provide coaching and modeling for literacy instruction and English language development.
• Provide professional development in structured phonics and phonemic awareness; support ELD mandates and literacy programs.
• Coordinate testing and data analysis; support reclassification of multilingual learners; collaborate with leadership teams.
• Serve on leadership teams; support RTI/MTSS processes; foster equity-focused professional learning community.
• Support new teachers with standards, induction, and LCPS requirements.
