Job summary

Buffalo/Rochester Academy of Science Charter School is seeking a Literacy Specialist to provide leadership and instructional support to improve literacy achievement across grade levels. Qualifications

• Leadership in literacy initiatives across grade levels.
• Experience collaborating with teachers, administrators and families.
• Ability to analyze student performance data to inform instruction.
• Experience delivering professional development to educators.

Responsibilities

• Assess students' literacy skills using formal and informal assessments to identify instructional needs.
• Design and deliver targeted reading and writing interventions for individuals and small groups.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement evidence-based literacy instruction and differentiated learning strategies.
• Coach and mentor teachers on best practices in reading, writing, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency instruction.
• Analyze student assessment data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
• Support school-wide literacy initiatives aligned with curriculum standards.
• Support MTSS/RTI implementation and deliver professional development for educators.
• Collaborate with administrators, ELL staff and families to support student literacy growth.
• Maintain records of student progress and prepare reports to guide instruction.
• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment that fosters a love of reading and writing.
