Job summary

Buchanan Community Schools is seeking a part-time Media Assistant at Moccasin Elementary School to support the Media/Library program alongside the Media Specialist and teachers. The role includes cataloging, assisting students, and maintaining library records in alignment with district guidelines.

Hours are 8:00 am to 11:45 am; compensation begins at $15.36 per hour under the union contract. The position supports early grades with supervision and basic media tasks in a collaborative school

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; two years of office experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret policies and regulations; write reports as needed.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Media Specialist Teacher in operating a Media Usage program with coordination of library activities.
• Organize, update and maintain the master catalog for books and AV materials, by hand or database.
• Help develop and supervise student centers and IMC tasks such as cataloging and laminating.
• Assist students and teachers in locating books and materials.
• Maintain electronic/AV equipment and schedule building use of this equipment.
• Take annual inventory and support recess supervision as needed.
• Post and maintain Moccasin Elementary’s website; assist with other duties as assigned.
• Administer medication according to policy and regulations.
