Job summary

The Elementary School Librarian at Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School in Worcester, MA will foster a love of reading, support curriculum development, and maintain a well-organized, resource-rich library environment.

The librarian will work collaboratively with educators to integrate literacy and information literacy skills into the classroom, ensuring students develop strong information literacy competencies.

Qualifications

• Must hold DESE Library Media Specialist license.
• SEI Endorsement required for compliance with state regulations.
• Master’s Degree in Library Science or a related field.
• At least three years of experience working with elementary-aged children.
• Experience with online resources, databases, and digital literacy tools.

Responsibilities

• Model the mission and character virtues of the school.
• Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning.
• Exhibit a strong knowledge of literature and current trends in children’s reading and publishing.
• Manage the library media center, including organization of materials, daily operations, and resource maintenance.
• Collaborate with teachers to recommend print and web-based materials, including databases.
• Align library lessons with grade-level curriculum and units of study.
