Qualifications

• Massachusetts DESE library license or equivalent.
• SEI Endorsement required for compliance.
• Completion of teacher preparation program or degree.
• Master’s in Library Science or related field.
• At least three years’ elementary library experience.
• Experience with online resources, databases, and digital literacy tools.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with students, staff and families.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Commitment to an inclusive and equitable library space.

Responsibilities

• Model the mission and character virtues of the school.
• Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning.
• Exhibit knowledge of literature and current trends in children’s reading.
• Manage the library media center, including organization and daily operations.
• Circulate books to students using the district’s library system.
• Collaborate with teachers to recommend materials and databases.
• Align library lessons with grade-level curriculum and units of study.
• Develop and manage the library budget.
• Train and oversee volunteers as needed.
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development.
