Job summary

Alpha is hiring for an on-site, full-time role serving as a guide for K–3 students. You will coach small groups within an Alpha campus, using app-based core learning and structured literacy to close reading gaps.

You’ll stay with students through daily routines, up to closing, and help drive progress with weekly goals. You’ll participate in morning launches, life-skills workshops, and check-chart activities, ensuring continuous progress and data-informed instruction.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years directly with children ages 4-9 in teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, or similar settings.
• At least 2 years of that experience teaching reading in grades K-3 within the last 5 years.
• Completed structured-literacy training (LETRS, IMSE, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Fundations, UFLI, CERI, Neuhaus, SIPPS, Really Great Reading, or similar) or master’s in reading/literacy.
• Bachelor’s degree in any subject. Teaching certificate not required.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Coaching students through app-based core learning: spotting who is stuck, asking the right question, and guiding progress toward weekly goals.
• Running short structured-literacy sessions with two to four students, diagnosing gaps, teaching a sequence, and checking transfer.
• Leading morning launch, life-skills workshops, and check-chart activities for six-year-olds.
• Driving students toward weekly app goals with school currency, leaderboards, and gamification.
• Staying with students through lunch, recess, and closing, with plans to address frustration.
