Job summary

Tenniswood Elementary in the L'Anse Creuse Public Schools district is seeking an Elementary Kitchen Manager Class III to oversee daily school meal operations for a 34‑hour work week. You will plan and prepare meals, maintain records, manage inventory, and ensure food safety compliance while supporting the school community.

Salary starts at $17.00 per hour, with a $0.20 raise per hour for ServSafe certification.

Qualifications

• Able to secure Health Department Handling Permits as required.
• Prepare and distribute meals according to approved menu and daily demand.
• Maintain records and reports as directed.
• Inventory food items periodically and/or as directed.
• Prepare meals for meetings, banquets, and events as part of activities.
• Assist principals in emergencies and be accountable to administrators.
• Perceives and accomplishes other duties as needed.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn MI-OSHA safety and health standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute meals according to approved menus and daily demand.
• Secure health permits and maintain compliance with health regulations.
• Clean equipment, spaces and utensils after serving and return to proper area.
• Maintain records and reports as directed by the Food Service Supervisor.
• Inventory food items periodically and/or as directed.
• Assist with meals for meetings, banquets, bazaars, breakfasts and luncheons.
• Assist principals in emergencies and liaise with building administration.
• Perform major cleaning of refrigerators and storerooms on schedule.
• Participate in in-service training and adapt to new duties as required.
• Learn and apply MI-OSHA safety requirements.
