Job summary

Tenniswood Elementary in the L'Anse Creuse Public Schools district is seeking an Elementary Kitchen Manager Class III to oversee daily school meal operations for a 34‑hour work week. You will plan and prepare meals, maintain records, manage inventory, and ensure food safety compliance while supporting the school community.

Salary starts at $17.00 per hour, with a $0.20 raise per hour for ServSafe certification.

Qualifications

• Able to secure Health Department Handling Permits as required.
• Prepare and distribute meals according to approved menu and daily demand.
• Maintain records and reports as directed.
• Inventory food items periodically and/or as directed.
• Prepare meals for meetings, banquets, and events as part of activities.
• Assist principals in emergencies and be accountable to administrators.
• Perceives and accomplishes other duties as needed.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn MI-OSHA safety and health standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist principals in emergencies and liaise with building administration.
• Perform major cleaning of refrigerators and storerooms on schedule.
• Participate in in-service training and adapt to new duties as required.
• Learn and apply MI-OSHA safety requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1. Able to secure appropriate Health Department Handling Permits as required.
• 2. Prepare and distribute meals in accordance with approved menu and daily demand.
• 3. Clean equipment, spaces and utensils when through serving and return to proper area.
• 4. Maintain records and reports as directed
• 5. Inventory food items periodically and/or as directed.
• 6. Prepare and distribute meals for meetings, banquets, bazaars, breakfasts, luncheons, and dinners, etc., as part of extra time curricular activities.
• 7. Assist principals in emergencies.
• 8. Be accountable to the building administrator for her/his relationship with students and staff.
• 9. Other such duties as may be assigned by the Food Service Supervisor.
• 10. Performs major cleaning of refrigerators and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals.
• 11. Participated in in-service training.
• 12. Perceives and accomplishes such other duties as may be apparent to a prudent employee.
• 13. Knowledge of or willingness to learn employee's requirements to comply with safety and health standards, rules, regulations, and orders issued under the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act (MI-OSHA) and applicable to her/his conduct.
