Job summary

YES Prep in Houston invites applicants for a 10-month Teacher position with a starting salary of $64,000 per year. The program includes a Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) that can bring earnings up to $102,800 for high performers who meet criteria.

TIAs offer annual stipends, coaching, and growth opportunities. The district also notes potential additional payouts and a focus on student growth, equity, and college readiness across campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university recognized by THECB
• Texas Educator Certification, or willing to join ACP to get certified
• Strong ability to navigate web-related applications and technology
• Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms
• Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools
• Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
• Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment

Responsibilities

• Developing rigorous lessons in your specific content area, in 1:1 blended learning environments, to reignite students for college and beyond while bridging gaps for marginalized communities
• Setting ambitious goals with your students and monitoring their progress with frequent feedback
• Tracking student growth and using data and feedback from coaches to create growth plans
• Building transformable relationships with students and families through regular communication
• Creating a classroom environment conducive to learning
• Collaborating with co-planner to fit students’ needs
• Meeting regular deadlines for daily lesson plans, grades, and samples
• Working on a team of teachers and leaders to provide consistency and accountability
• Working with content teams in Professional Development to norm on and improve learning
• Conducting weekly tutorials outside of regular class day for extra instruction
• Completing supervision duties on campus for student safety
• Growing professionally by receiving and giving feedback from DOI and School Leader
• Persisting through challenges and modeling professional growth
• Being available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with campus leaders and families
• Providing personal care services as needed
• Additional duties as assigned
