Job summary

The Elementary Instructional Coach at EAST HARTFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS partners with a wide range of stakeholders to enhance curriculum, assessment, instruction and intervention district-wide. The role collaborates with the district coaching team to support five core coaching responsibilities and align resources to student needs.

Qualifications

• CT State Certification (Elementary, K-6) required.
• Master's degree in reading and/or mathematics strongly preferred.
• A minimum of five years of exemplary elementary classroom teaching experience.
• Strong background in research-based instructional practices.
• Strong background in differentiated instruction and the ability to program for all students.
• Strong background in curricular content including elementary literacy, mathematics, science and social studies.
• Knowledge of effective instructional strategies, assessment tools and researched based 'best practices'.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers with planning solid Tier 1 lessons differentiated and aligned to district curriculum.
• Leads collaborative conversations around student data, teaching and learning.
• Co-planning with teachers in a student-centered coaching model.
• Maintains visibility in classrooms daily and works with students as needed.
• Provides instructional resources based on data.
• Educates parents regarding instructional practices and strategies.
