Job summary

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools seeks an Elementary School Instructional Coach (1.0 FTE) to work with K-5 teachers across Bentley and Dodson Elementary Schools. The coach supports equity-focused instruction, differentiates instruction, and leads professional development to strengthen evidence-based practices.

The role collaborates with teachers to implement MTSS, literacy across content areas, and data-driven decision making. Strong leadership, communication, and ongoing learning are essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
• Five years of teaching experience.
• Demonstrates presentation skills.
• Ability to establish rapport with peers and students.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Desire to continue learning.
• Knowledge of Michigan Academic Standards.
• Knowledge of interventions that support student learning.
• Exceptional knowledge of using assessments and assessment data to inform instruction.
• Expert knowledge in evidence-based instructional strategies and the ability to implement them effectively.
• Knowledge in the use of technology to support high-quality instruction.
• Demonstrates exceptional skill in the role of teacher-leader: collaborator, action researcher, reflective practitioner, learner advocate.
• Experience integrating literacy concepts across content areas.
• LETRS training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teaches and models best practices often referred to as evidence-based methods.
• Models individual, small-group, and whole-group instruction.
• Team-teaches lessons with teachers modeling effective instructional strategies.
• Designs and models instructional interventions addressing specific student needs.
• Plans and models instruction meeting linguistic and culturally diverse student needs.
• Works with teachers applying evidence-based reading and writing strategies in all content areas.
• Supports administrators and other teacher-leaders in developing curriculum and using formative assessments.
• Designs and models student assessments as part of regular classroom instruction.
• Trains teachers in data analysis and using data to inform instruction.
• Provides supportive feedback to teachers and administrators regarding instructional practices.
• Designs and presents workshops to support ongoing professional development.
• Facilitates study groups.
• Coaches and mentors colleagues.
• Works collaboratively with other district leaders.
• Builds rapport with teachers, students, and community.
• Communicates clearly using written and oral methods.
