Job summary

The Mn State Academies in Faribault is hiring two full-time Special Teacher-Elementary Education positions for the 10-month school year. These roles focus on deaf/hard of hearing students and require ASL skills as part of daily instruction and assessment.

Candidates must hold a valid DHH MN teacher license or be able to obtain one, with knowledge of deaf education and the ability to maintain clear records. Work is Monday–Friday, Day Shift, with summer school in July.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Deaf/hard of hearing Minnesota Teacher license or have the ability to obtain one prior to start date.
• Knowledge of deaf/hard of hearing and deaf/blind students and educational practices.
• Skill in writing basic reports, using arithmetic, and reading and interpreting charts and graphs.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Ability to read and write English sufficiently to understand policies and education plans and to maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, design and deliver academic instructional programs to deaf/hard of hearing or deaf/blind students; provide educational instruction using a variety of techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors.
