Job summary

Chico Unified School District is seeking an Elementary Counseling Assistant to provide early intervention and emotional/behavioral support to identified students, individually or in groups. The role includes facilitating SEL lessons, character education and bullying prevention, and maintaining service records for data collection.

The position emphasizes collaboration with site administration, teachers, and families to promote student well-being and achievement.

Qualifications

• Experience in an organized education or childcare setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work individually with identified children, facilitating social and life skill lessons.
• Establish positive relationships with children and achieve goals with site leadership and teachers.
• Assist in evaluating student progress in a wide variety of skills; report progress on performance and behavior.
• Assist in screening and assessing students.
• Communicate with site administrator or designee and with parents as directed.
• Assist with organizing and compiling evaluative data.
• Support certificated staff with instructional materials development and preparation.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service activities; participate in workshops to increase knowledge.
