Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a full-time School Social Worker in Illinois to provide social-emotional counseling to elementary students. The role runs August through late May, focusing on behavioral and emotional support to help students thrive academically and socially.

You will work with families, teachers, and local organizations to connect students with resources, address barriers to learning, and support attendance and achievement in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois PEL with SSW endorsement required.
• Experience supporting elementary students in educational or clinical settings preferred.
• Strong understanding of social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and crisis intervention skills.
• Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion in school communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group counseling for elementary students.
• Develop and implement social skills and emotional regulation programs.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to address student needs.
• Connect families with relevant community resources and support services.
• Advocate for students and ensure compliance with IEP and 504 plans as needed.
• Document interventions, maintain records, and contribute to progress meetings.
