Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors to join our after-school enrichment program in University Park, MD. Lead fun, interactive chess sessions for elementary students using our curriculum and promote good sportsmanship.

Position offers flexible hours (2:00 PM–5:00 PM sessions), travel mileage reimbursement, and a fall start. Candidates should have experience with children, strong chess knowledge, and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational or recreational settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently and keep sessions engaging.
• Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor.
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and able to explain basics clearly.
• Ability to connect chess problem-solving to real-life thinking.
• Reliable personal transportation; able to drive between locations.
• Weekday afternoon availability (2:00–5:00 PM) to teach 1–5 classes weekly.
• Commitment to school safety protocols and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10-15 elementary students.
• Use our curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
