Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is hiring enthusiastic instructors for its after-school chess program in Upper Marlboro, MD.

This fall-session role involves leading engaging classes of 10–15 elementary students, following a structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals, and maintaining a positive classroom environment. Instructors will travel to local school sites, arrive prepared, and teach 1–5 sessions per week between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive sessions
• Professional, kid-friendly demeanor
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves and simple tactics
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between locations
• Weekday afternoon availability (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) to teach 1–5 classes per week
• Commitment to school safety protocols and policies
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students
• Use our structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals
