Wayland Public Schools is seeking a Building Substitute for Happy Hollow Elementary School in Wayland, MA. The role covers classrooms across elementary grades, implements lesson plans, and maintains a safe, inclusive learning environment.

The candidate should have a high school diploma (bachelor’s preferred), and experience with elementary students is highly valued; MA licensure and SEI endorsement are preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience: Prior experience with elementary-aged children is highly preferred; experience leading a classroom and implementing lesson plans is strongly preferred.
• Cultural Competency: Experience with diverse populations and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Professionalism: Strong communication, collaboration, classroom management, and organizational skills; patient and positive role model.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage across grade levels as needed throughout the day.
• Implement teacher-developed lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Establish and maintain a positive, safe, inclusive classroom environment.
• Support students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• Follow school policies and student support plans.
