Job summary

Hall County Schools is seeking an Elementary Behavior Intervention Paraprofessional to support an Intervention Teacher and principal in delivering a structured behavior support program. The role emphasizes reinforcing positive behavior, supporting instruction, and maintaining a safe, nurturing learning environment for students with targeted behavioral needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Completion of state-required paraprofessional certification (if applicable).
  • Experience with children, preferably in elementary or middle school settings.
  • Willingness to learn research-based behavioral strategies and interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Behavior Intervention Teacher in delivering instructional activities aligned with Georgia standards and district curriculum.
  • Provide small group and individual support to reinforce academic skills and behavioral expectations.
  • Support implementation of differentiated instruction and targeted interventions.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the direction of the certified teacher.
  • Reinforce positive behavior supports and model appropriate social and behavioral skills.
  • Assist in monitoring and documenting student behavior and progress toward goals.
  • Help de-escalate situations using approved strategies and techniques.
  • Collect and record data on student behavior, progress, and IEP goals as directed.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and organized records, including daily logs and progress monitoring tools.
  • Supervise students in various settings to ensure safety and structure.
  • Help maintain a positive, structured learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and behavior supports.
  • Work collaboratively with the Behavior Intervention Teacher, administrators, and support staff.
  • Participate in team meetings, when appropriate, to support student success.
  • Participate in professional development and training related to behavior support and instructional strategies.
  • Follow all district policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
