Job summary

Brenham ISD is seeking a Behavioral Support Paraprofessional to join Alton Elementary. You will assist teachers in delivering learning activities and support students with diverse needs in a classroom setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to work with children with special needs.
• Willing to be trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention Strategies.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal/written instructions.
• Knowledge of classroom technology.

Responsibilities

• Help teachers prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teachers keep behavioral records.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Provide direct support to students in a classroom using co-teaching models.
• Provide and supervise personal and medical care.
• Work with students with disabilities in all educational settings.
• Implement instructional plans with teachers; adjust as needed.
• Maintain logs for students with disabilities in inclusive settings.
• Supervise students during school hours.
• Perform health-related procedures as prescribed.
• Assist with behavior supports and redirect inappropriate behavior.
• Assist students in using computer applications and assistive technology.

Skills
