Job summary

Forest Hills Public School District in Grand Rapids Charter Township, Michigan is seeking an Early Elementary Behavior Support Paraprofessional to assist in providing behavioral, social-emotional, and instructional support to students in kindergarten through second grade. This role supports multiple classrooms and promotes self-regulation, positive behavior, safety, and access to learning.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children in educational or care settings.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with students facing behavioral/emotional challenges.
• Excellent organizational, communication, collaboration and recordkeeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students with behavioral, emotional, and self-regulation needs
• Assist in implementing behavior intervention and safety plans
• Reinforce positive behavior expectations and school-wide systems
• Support students during transitions, classroom instruction, and unstructured times
• Utilize de-escalation strategies and crisis prevention techniques
• Respond to situations involving aggression, elopement, or disruptive behavior
• Collect and communicate behavioral data as directed
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to promote student success
• Obtain certification in district-approved crisis prevention programs, including CPI and Ukeru
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• Attend staff meetings and professional development as requested
• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
• Perform other duties as assigned
