Job summary

Devereux Education Services (DESS) is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support elementary students with autism in the Neshaminy School District. Reporting to the Special Education Teacher, you will help implement IEPs, maintain classroom routines, and provide patient, compassionate support throughout the school day.

The role is full-time on a 10-month schedule, Monday to Friday, 8:20am to 3:35pm, with potential extended-year opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High School diploma or GED required, associates preferred.
• Experience in an educational setting with autistic support is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain classroom policies and procedures, modeling appropriate behavior and providing emotional support.
• Assist in the implementation of students’ IEPs and PBSP as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with student personal needs, including medical needs in conjunction with school staff.
• Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
• Support team decisions and cooperate with others within and outside the team.
• Utilize crisis intervention techniques under the teacher's direction as appropriate to student safety.
