Job summary

Devereux Education Services (DESS) is hiring an Instructional Assistant to support elementary students with autism in Neshaminy School District. The role is full-time for a 10-month period with summer extension opportunities; pay ranges from $21 to $24.50 per hour based on education and experience, with scheduling Monday–Friday, 8:20am–3:35pm.

You will assist with IEP/PBSP implementation, provide emotional support, help with student needs, and participate in team meetings and training.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High School diploma or GED required, associates preferred.
• At least one year of experience in an educational setting; autism experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain classroom policies, model appropriate behavior, provide emotional support, and maintain a patient, friendly attitude.
• Assist in implementing IEP and PBSP as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with student personal needs, including medical needs with health staff.
• Participate in meetings and in-service trainings as assigned.
• Understand team goals and your role within the team; support coworkers.
• Utilize crisis intervention techniques under teacher direction as needed.

Join Devereux Education Services (DESS) as an Instructional Assistant supporting elementary students with autism support needs in the Neshaminy School District.

Earn $21 to $24.50 per hour based on education, experience and/or RBT certification.

Schedule: M-F: 8:20am - 3:35pm: This position is aligned with the school calendar and is a full-time role covering a 10-month period and opportunites for extended school year program in summer break.

• Support and maintain classroom policies and procedures, while assisting students by modeling appropriate behavior, providing emotional support, and adopting a patient and friendly attitude.
• Assist in the implementation of students' individualized education program (IEP) and positive behavior support plan (PBSP) as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with student personal needs, when required, including medical needs in conjunction with the school-based health or nursing staff.
• Participates in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
• Understand team goals and own role within the team. Support team decisions and cooperates with others within and outside the team.
• Utilize crisis physical intervention techniques under the direction of the teacher and as appropriate tothe setting and the degree of threat to the safety of the student and others.

DESS partners with child-serving institutions to provide services in early learning, behavioral and mental health treatment, academic interventions, and prevention programming. We also offer direct staff placement, diagnostic evaluations, and consultation services to school districts.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older
