Job summary

SMTC Corporation in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Test Engineer who will develop and maintain advanced test solutions for electronics assemblies throughout the product lifecycle. You will work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to optimize test coverage, reliability, and efficiency, supporting NPI, yield improvement, and root cause analysis.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, documentation, and continual process improvements in a high-reliability EMS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field.
• IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, CLAD, Six Sigma Green Belt certifications are valued.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, validate, and maintain functional test, ICT, flying probe, environmental, and automated test solutions.
• Review customer specifications and requirements to develop effective test strategies and solutions.
• Lead development, installation, qualification, and validation of test fixtures, hardware, and software.
• Develop and maintain test procedures, validation plans, engineering documentation, work instructions, and reports.
• Support NPI activities and manufacturing readiness to ensure quality and yield.
• Analyze test data and yield trends to identify improvement opportunities and reduce defects.
• Investigate failures and test escapes using root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and support program objectives.
• Provide technical training and guidance to Test Technicians and Manufacturing staff.
• Calibrate and optimize test equipment and laboratory resources.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for yield, quality, and efficiency.
