Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA, seeks an Electronics Technologist to operate the Power Conditioning System (PCS) and Plasma‑Electrode Pockels Cell (PEPC) in the NIF laser program. You will run high‑voltage, high‑energy modules using GUI controls, perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics, and support 24/7 operations with a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology or equivalent combination.
• Experience with high-voltage and power systems.
• Experience with computer-based controls and diagnostics.
• Experience in electrical/electronic troubleshooting using DMMs and oscilloscopes.
• Ability to interpret technical data, schematics, and procedures.
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

• Operate PCS and PEPC systems via GUI for laser operations.
• Troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and maintain HV, control, vacuum, and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose issues with HV modules, circuits, and controls using diagnostic tools.
• Perform maintenance and acceptance testing of plasma pulse generators and turbo pumps.
• Document repairs and status; communicate to ensure smooth shift transitions.
• Maintain inventory of critical spare parts.
• Follow procedures to de-energize HV systems and conduct safety sweeps.
• Provide input on procedures and automate trend reviews.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technicians in a 24/7 environment.
• Adapt to changing configurations and priorities.
• Perform other duties.
