Position Overview

Position Type: Full-time, Non-exempt

Work Location: Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA

Pay: Up to $39.13/hr

Job Title: Electronics Technician, Maintenance I

The Electronics Technician Maintenance I applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, such as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment, and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes. This person works under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Under limited supervision, apply technical working knowledge to perform tasks on various types of electronics and avionics on aerial target systems and subsystems (BQM-34, BQM-177, or BQM-74 Targets).
  • Assist higher-level technicians or assume lead positions in activities such as build-up or replacing aerial target components, wiring harnesses/circuits, troubleshooting systems and subsystems.
  • Repair simple electronic equipment; using tools and common test equipment; and receiving technical guidance as required from the supervisor or higher-level technicians.
  • Maintain equipment logs, maintenance action forms and work-time tracking sheets.
  • Work with small CADs (pyro technic devices) and targets-specific rocket motors (JATO).
  • Learn aerial target launch pad evolutions at Pt. Mugu and deployed sites.
Work Conditions
  • Work conditions vary; most work is accomplished in enclosed buildings.
  • Work on the range throughout the year; temperatures will vary.
  • Travel is required.
  • Work activities: 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, and 5% lifting.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds assisted by other employees.
  • Follow OSHA and Navy mandated safety guidelines with specific periods of use for safety glasses, outdoor respirator, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, and possible forklift license.
  • Require other specific driver’s license or operator qualifications for targets-specific support.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in performing systems Operations & Maintenance (4790 Maintenance experience desired).
  • Strong basic avionics/electronics work requirement, including using hand tools, power tools, and engine and electronics test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Computer and networking skills; proficiency with MS Office.
  • Knowledgeable in testing systems and components to ensure functionality in accordance with procedures defined in NAVAIR manuals using specified test equipment.
  • Work requirement includes using hand tools, power tools, and engine and electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to pass an Industrial I FAA Class 3 or comparable physical (such as a commercial driver license physical).
  • Current Driver’s License required; ability to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
