SA-TECH is seeking a Marine Electronics Technician to provide Seaborne Targets O&M support at Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, CA. Role

Marine Electronics Technician (Electronics Technician, Maintenance I) to provide Seaborne Targets O&M Support to the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons, Pacific Target and Marine Operations Division at Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, CA. The position requires expertise with electronics and electrical components on vessels ranging from 21 feet to 286 feet in length.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain all electrical and electronic components and ensure operational readiness for a fleet of vessels.
  • Perform electronics and electrical work on seaborne target systems and subsystems (AVRs, QST A/B/I, FACT, HSMST, SDST Targets).
  • Assist higher-level technicians with build-up or replacement of seaborne target components and wiring harnesses/circuits; troubleshoot AC/DC systems and subsystems; repair electronic equipment; use tools and test equipment; receive technical guidance as required.
  • Qualify for and maintain Portable Command and Control Unit PCCU Remote Control Operator RCO certification.
  • Test electrical circuits using a multimeter; fabricate AC/DC circuit boards; troubleshoot radar systems; maintain offshore communication equipment.
Additional duties
  • Maintain equipment logs, maintenance action forms and work-time tracking sheets.
  • Learn and be qualified to support seaborne target remote PCCU operations at Pt. Mugu and deployed sites.
  • Keep and organize shop and hand tool inventories and bags.
  • Serve as a crew member on various size vessels as a deckhand or water ET support.
Work Conditions
  • Indoor and outdoor work; outdoor duties may be on shore or afloat and on even or uneven surfaces.
  • May require shift work at remote locations with overnight assignments.
  • Follow OSHA and Navy safety guidelines including use of safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection and steel-toe shoes.
  • Physical activities include sitting, standing, walking, lifting, reaching and working in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted and 50-180 lbs with assistance (batteries weigh 45-180 lbs).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work Schedule: 9/80 schedule (Mon–Thu 9 hours, alternating Fridays 8 hours or day off).
  • Overtime may be required; travel is routine but location is NBVC Port Hueneme.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical school training or specialized training in a related field is required or a total of four to six years of experience may replace education.
  • Experience in a military environment (E5+) or on a military facility preferred but not required.
  • Basic understanding of computers, networking and MS Office.
  • Team-oriented and able to work with others.
  • Experience working in or around a Marine environment.
  • Experience with Mercury Marine and Suzuki outboards, MerCruiser inboard gasoline engines; Cummins, Yanmar, Caterpillar, and John Deere diesel engines.
  • Knowledge of testing systems and components per technical manuals using specified test equipment.
  • Proficiency with 480V, 208V, 120V AC shore power and generator systems maintenance; proficiency with 12-24V DC power.
  • Proper use of hand tools, power tools, and engine/electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical data to determine repair methods.
  • Adherence to OSHA and Navy safety guidelines for protective equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic skills for AC/DC marine electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose problems, develop solutions, order parts, and complete projects from start to finish.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be insurable under the company vehicle policy for work/government/rental vehicles during working hours and employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date.
  • All candidates must pass background checks including SSN, driving record, and criminal background investigation.
