The selected applicant will be responsible for maintaining and repairing Electrical, Electronic, and Computerized Traffic Control Systems across Beaufort, Greene, Lenoir, and Pitt Counties, as well as throughout Division 2. Responsibilities include installation, testing, and inspection of new and upgraded Traffic Control Systems, installing traffic signal equipment, wiring detectors, installing controllers, troubleshooting electrical diagrams, dismantling and reassembling components, and replacing faulty parts. Work will be performed independently and evaluated by supervisors for efficiency and proper system operation.
Skills required include knowledge of electrical/electronic principles, ability to diagnose equipment failures, and repair complex electrical devices. The role may require overtime and emergency callbacks. Proper record-keeping of work performed, including time and materials, is essential.
Applicants must demonstrate experience with test equipment, reading schematics, understanding the National Electric Code, effective planning and execution of work, and performing manual labor in various environmental conditions.
Additional requirements include a valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain it within 360 days of hire, ability to lift up to 80 pounds, operate aerial bucket trucks, and perform manual tasks in adverse conditions. Safety shoes are required. Pre-employment drug testing and background checks are mandatory. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer evaluation.
Minimum qualifications include an Associate's degree in electronics and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensure may be required based on work specifics.
