Job summary

U.S. Pacific Fleet seeks skilled specialists to deliver Fleet Technical Assistance for submarine electrical and mechanical systems. You will assess operational and maintenance status, support at-dock and at-sea modernization efforts, and help troubleshoot complex shipboard problems.

Responsibilities include data collection, preparing work packages, and providing technical oversight and training. Willingness to travel and obtain/maintain required security clearances is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with AN/BPS-15/16 radar systems and submarine mast assemblies.
• Familiarity with submarine radio rooms and EW systems is preferred.
• Ability to collect data, analyze metrics and troubleshoot shipboard systems.

Job description

• You will provide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA), waterfront/deck-plate engineering, technical, logistics, management and coordination assistance and services for Submarine electrical and mechanical systems.
• You will conduct system/equipment operational and maintenance assessments.
• You will provide alteration installation team (AIT) support including dock-side, at-sea, pre/post modernization/ installation testing and shipboard technical and logistics support during system/equipment modernization installations.
• You will provide engineering technical assistance in troubleshooting and fault isolation, pre/post availability inspections and grooms, work packages and technical work document review.
• You will create and develop plans and procedures for isolation and resolution of complex intermittent shipboard system problems.
• You will provide technical over-sight, consultation, and over-the-shoulder maintenance training; and FTA data collection and reporting services.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

FOR THE GS-12 POSITION: providing technical direction and applying expert knowledge in AN/BPS-15/16 RADAR systems, Type 8/15 periscopes, WLR-8 Electronic Warfare system, submarine Multi-Function Mast, to include electrical and mechanical experience; familiarization in the operation and maintenance of the Common Submarine Radio Room for SSBN submarines; experience in data collection, analysis, and metric development for the purpose of troubleshooting and technical assistance for shipboard installed systems; knowledge and experience in testing and technical support for submarine installed external communications antennas and associated inboard electronics; developed working relationships with both in-agency and out-of-agency technical experts and stakeholders.
