TAP Engineering in Columbia, MD is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design mechanical parts and enclosures for electronic systems. You will work on assemblies across chip, PCB, module, and system levels, collaborating with electrical engineers to ensure proper fit and thermal management.

The role targets early-career engineers with hands-on problem-solving, strong documentation, and a drive for growth in a collaborative, mentorship-rich environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 1–5 years of relevant experience (internships, co-ops, or academic projects accepted).
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Basic understanding of thermal principles and heat dissipation in electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts, enclosures, and assemblies for electronic systems using SolidWorks.
• Create and update 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs.
• Support thermal and structural evaluations through simulation, analysis, or testing.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure PCB integration and mechanical clearances.
