Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Production Specialist to join our Simsbury team. The role involves hand-soldering surface mount components and SAW devices onto PCBs, fabricating wiring harnesses, and mechanically assembling final products with strict ESD protocols.

You will inspect quality, document results, and ensure travelers are signed off before moving products. The position supports Lean initiatives and requires basic soldering and electronics manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in manufacturing performing assembly and soldering tasks.
• Experience using a microscope for detailed work.
• Proficiency with Windows-based software: Acrobat, Explorer, Outlook.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Solder electronic components, wiring harnesses, and install SAW components onto PCBs per drawings and travelers.
• Assemble modules by placing PCBs into cases following provided documentation.
• Perform quality inspections per Microchip procedures before and after each task.
• Document inspection results in Work Order Event Database and report discrepancies promptly.
• Sign travelers and move finished products to Inventory or Test department; participate in Lean initiatives.
