Job summary

The role requires an ALA-accredited MLS and experience with electronic resources, licensing, documentation, and project coordination, with a commitment to diversity and scholarly service at UNLV.

Qualifications

  • Earned Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program.
  • At least one year of experience managing electronic resources in a library setting, including Ex Libris Alma and Primo.
  • Strong understanding of subscription management and electronic resource lifecycle.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience developing and maintaining workflow and training documentation.
  • Project management experience with complex projects and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize deadlines, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Google Workspace; commitment to diversity.

Responsibilities

Overview

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Libraries invites applications for the position of Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian. This role provides leadership and management of the library’s print and electronic resource collections, overseeing the serials lifecycle, acquisition, licensing, and access management.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of print serials and electronic resources in the Alma system, from acquisition through activation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Resolve electronic resource access issues and coordinate with vendors, publishers, and aggregators to ensure seamless access.
  • Lead acquisition of electronic resources and print serial purchases, ensuring timely orders, renewals, payments, and accurate financial records.
  • Develop, maintain, and update documentation for serial and subscription workflows, procedures, and policies in Alma and vendor/publisher systems.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Collections, Interlibrary Loan, and Acquisitions to review, negotiate, and manage license agreements with publishers and vendors.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop and implement policies for recording and maintaining key license terms in Alma, ensuring compliance with institutional accessibility requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for library resource access and subscription management, coordinating renewal, cancellation, claims, and transitions.
  • Communicate information regarding electronic resources to University Libraries colleagues and support data collection, analysis, and reporting for assessment of resources and workflows.
  • As an Academic Faculty member, engage in scholarly activities and provide service to the university, community, and profession in accordance with UNLV and Library standards for promotion and tenure.
Qualifications
  • Earned Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program.
  • At least one year of experience managing electronic resources in a library setting, including competency with the Ex Libris Alma platform and the Primo discovery layer.
  • Strong understanding of subscription management, including electronic resource lifecycle.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience developing and maintaining workflow and training documentation.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with complex projects and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and preserve confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace.
  • Competence and sensitivity in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and learning new tools, technologies, and methods.
  • Experience with library acquisitions and with vendors, publishers, or similar entities.
  • Experience guiding, directing, and motivating staff, setting performance standards, and reviewing work.
