Responsibilities

  • Repair and Stage technology equipment; complete main board repairs, replace defective parts, and complete equipment configurations and staging activities.
  • Observe and test equipment following repair and make any repair adjustments as necessary.
  • Refer to schematic drawings, product manuals, and troubleshooting guides in order to diagnose and repair problems.
  • Self-motivate and work independently on day-to-day technical aspects of repairs and/or projects.
  • Occasionally provide direct project management responsibility for certain projects, as needed.
  • Travel up to 10% to North American client locations and training courses, as needed.
  • Interact professionally with fellow employees, clients, and vendors.

Electronic / PC Technician

Location: Minneapolis MN Relocation not offered. Local applicants only.

SUMMARY

The person recruited to this position will play a vital and significant role as our corporate based, technician expert. We are looking for a detailed oriented person with a broad range of technician experiences, a strong work ethic, and the ability to communicate effectively. The ideal candidate will have experience in each of these areas and possess the ability to learn and comprehend quickly. The position may require travel up to 10% and will require customer facing work. It is anticipated that this position will involve working with a wide range of clients, partners, and technologies.

The Technician will be responsible for repair and staging of retail and hospitality technology equipment. This position will disassemble POS units, receipt printers, scanners, monitors, and more equipment so problems can be diagnosed and repairs can be made. In addition, continue to further establish customer relationships by working directly with customer for design & analysis and support calls.

This position will be responsible for documentation of new customer projects. In addition, when necessary, the Technician will lead technical training sessions and provide remote support to team members ensuring the technical aspects of projects are clearly understood and supported.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for technician services and completion of all technician work activities (equipment repair, equipment staging, etc…) and providing status reports.
  • Repair and Stage technology equipment; complete main board repairs, replace defective parts, and complete equipment configurations and staging activities.
  • Observe and examine equipment during services to detect specific malfunctions, such as loose parts.
  • Observe and test equipment following repair and make any repair adjustments as necessary.
  • Instruct team members and customers regarding operation and care of equipment and provide information such as emergency service numbers.
  • Refer to schematic drawings, product manuals, and troubleshooting guides in order to diagnose and repair problems.
  • Comply with process standards, such as recording repair work performed on work orders and maintaining clean and organized work spaces.
  • Self-motivate and work independently on day-to-day technical aspects of repairs and/or projects. Occasionally provide direct project management responsibility for certain projects, as needed.
  • Respond proactively to identified training, technical support, and customer service needs.
  • Collaborate with team members on technical requirements within and across repairs and projects.
  • Work with customers, project managers, and technical staff to design, develop and enhance technician service solutions and procedures.
  • Analyze, design, build, and document technician service solutions.
  • Understand business objectives of assigned repairs and projects.
  • Work independently on repairs and projects and follow through completion.
  • Work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Adapt to new technology solutions utilized by clients.
  • Design and integrate new service solutions into the current environment.
  • Travel up to 10% of time to North American client locations and training courses, as needed.

  • Experience with Point of Sale hardware maintenance and repair
  • Surveillance System design and implementation experience
  • VOIP Phone Solution design and implementation experience
  • Wireless Network design and implementation experience
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn unfamiliar technology, and to stay informed of new technologies.
  • Experience in corporate retail environment
  • Possess a strong knowledge of operating procedures and systems and ability to ensure procedures and systems are being followed
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
  • Strong negotiating skills
COMPENSATION:
  • $19-$28 hourly
