Job summary

Eight Sleep, Inc. is seeking a Prototype & Test Engineering intern to help bring a new electromechanical product to market. You’ll join a small, mission-driven team, build prototypes, run critical tests, and support failure analysis in hardware-software integrated systems.

This on-site role requires being in our San Francisco office 5 days per week for an 8–10 week duration in Fall 2026.

Qualifications

• Engineering background with ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Hands-on prototyping of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Proficient with lab tools: multimeters, oscilloscopes, CLI; AI tooling a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• BS in engineering or equivalent; MS preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Build and test complex electromechanical systems for a new product, including sensors, pumps, and electronics.
• Collaborate with product team to deploy systems to real users
• Collaborate with sensor, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to review sensor data and field feedback, identify root cause of issues, and determine corrective actions
• Reproduce and characterize failure cases on the bench to confirm root cause and validate that corrective actions hold.
• Track and report findings from troubleshooting to the engineering and product team.
