Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking an Electromechanical Engineer to design, evaluate, test, commission, and optimize power generation and control systems. You will support installation, operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical and mechanical equipment including SCADA assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience with industrial or commercial power generation systems.
  • Experience with diesel and/or natural gas generators, switchgear, ATS, and generator controls.
  • Experience with SCADA, industrial networking, and remote monitoring.
  • Knowledge of Modbus, DNP3, OPC, or Ethernet/IP.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC logic, and specs.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel to sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and support diesel and natural gas generator systems for commercial/industrial use.
  • Develop electrical and mechanical specifications for generator packages, switchgear, ATS, fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems.
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot SCADA systems for remote monitoring and control.
  • Coordinate SCADA communications using Modbus, DNP3, OPC, or Ethernet/IP.
  • Review electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, control logic, and equipment layouts.
  • Perform equipment sizing, load calculations, and assess system performance.
  • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for power and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, IEEE.
  • Coordinate with customers, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to meet timelines and budgets.
  • Prepare technical reports and commissioning documentation.
