Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory's Systems and Analysis Group in Lexington, MA seeks a candidate with deep electromagnetics expertise to advance physics-based modeling for air defense problems. Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Physics with a focus on Electromagnetics
  • Familiarity with modeling and analysis of electromagnetic scattering, radiation and propagation phenomena
  • Must have familiarity with, if not formal expertise in, aerodynamics and materials science
  • Technical depth in a chosen field of study, with the ability to apply talents to new fields
  • Demonstrated ability to program in a technical environment in MATLAB, Python, C, or C++
  • Effective communication skills to convey technical concepts in a clear, concise manner to a wide spectrum of audiences
  • Passion for critical thinking and solving complex, often ill‑defined problems
  • Exceptional teamwork and dedication to mentorship
  • Interest in working on defense‑related problems
  • Ability to travel 20-40%

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain physics-based modeling and simulation for analysis efforts
  • Assess performance, limitations, maturity, and risks of advanced technologies to inform decision-making
  • Build relationships with government program offices, industry, and defense partners
  • Communicate results to diverse audiences via presentations at conferences and meetings
