Job summary

San Diego Trolley, Inc. (MTS) offers a 4-year apprenticeship program leading to a career in repairing and maintaining the light rail system.

The program combines on-the-job training with formal classroom instruction, with classes at San Diego City College or other approved local colleges, fully paid by MTS. Starting pay is $25.47 per hour, rising to $27.78 after six months and to top rates of $46.33 per hour for Electromechanic over time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Algebra passed with a C or better.
• Aptitude test will be required after interview.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and inspect Wayside Railroad Signal System, grade crossings, track switches, and traction power.
• Operate overhead bucket trucks and cranes as needed.
• Support lighting, ventilation, and pump systems on the rail network.
