Job summary

San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) seeks a Train Operator to drive Light Rail Vehicles in revenue and non-revenue service, following all safety rules. You will perform pre-departure checks, make public announcements, monitor passengers, and assist in training student personnel to operate trains safely.

The role is part-time, with shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. A path to promotion exists, and benefits include health coverage, paid time off, and a transit pass for you

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license.
• Minimum of three years of current, satisfactory driving experience.
• Bilingual skills are preferred and encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Operate Light Rail Vehicles in revenue and non-revenue service per rules.
• Make public announcements and ensure passenger safety.
• Prepare trains for service and report unusual events.
• Provide on-the-job instruction to trainee personnel.
• Maintain knowledge of current rules and procedures.
