Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking an Electrician within Maintenance of Equipment. You will troubleshoot and service electrical components across rolling stock, shops, and yards, ensuring reliable operation of power systems and related equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least four years of electrical experience. You will work with IBEW unions and contribute to safety-sensitive operations, with wage progression and open postings.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent approved by a State education dept.
• Minimum of four years electrical experience; related trade school may count.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
• Ability to read wiring schematic diagrams and knowledge of relay logic.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair and install electrical components such as armatures, generators, inverters/converters, motor alternators, regulators, traction motors, switchboards, lighting fixtures, magnet coils, jumpers, batteries, and printed circuit cards; work on rolling stock, shop, or plant equipment.
• Move cars within Maintenance of Equipment territory; learn and troubleshoot defects using the Automatic Train Control System.
• Maintain HVAC systems, including freon handling.
