Actalent is seeking an R&D Test Technician in Maple Grove, MN, to support engineers by building, testing, and troubleshooting medical devices and fixtures. You’ll contribute to design verification, process validation, and product development within a regulated environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, documentation accuracy, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring quality and compliance in prototype builds and test setups.

Qualifications

• 1-2 year technical degree or certification in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or related engineering tech field.
• 3+ years in medical device R&D/testing/manufacturing support.
• Strong proficiency with hand tools and measurement devices; ability to troubleshoot.
• Experience performing documented testing in a regulated medical device environment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Proficient with test equipment and data acquisition for validation.
• Capable of calibration and basic repair of fixtures/test setups.
• Attention to detail and accurate documentation for quality/regulatory.
• Clear communication and cross-functional teamwork.
• Comfort with electro-mechanical devices in a process-driven setting.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble electro-mechanical medical devices and fixtures per drawings and work instructions.
• Set up and document test methods to support design verification and process validation.
• Test capital equipment and single-use devices, including in-water tests.
• Assemble, calibrate, and verify performance using hand tools and measurement devices.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions with engineers and QA.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and test methods at required levels.
• Maintain test records, logs, calibration records, and other quality documentation.
• Contribute to test method refinement to improve clarity and efficiency.
• Assist with fixture assembly, repair, and maintenance to keep equipment functional.
• Collect and analyze test data with data acquisition tools; support improvements.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, QA, and manufacturing for product development.
• Work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet testing and build schedules.
• Maintain clean, safe work area per lab and site procedures.
