Job summary

Henkel is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Maintenance Technician to support chemical manufacturing operations on the 2nd shift in Chicago. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, with emphasis on PLCs, motors, sensors, and automation equipment.

The role requires 5+ years in similar environments, an associate degree or technical certification, and strong safety practices.

Qualifications

Associate degree or technical certification in Electromechanical Technology or related field.
5+ years electro-mechanical maintenance experience in chemical, manufacturing, processing, or industrial environment.
Experience troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, motors, instrumentation, and automated production equipment.
Strong understanding of electrical systems (120V–480V), mechanical systems, and industrial safety practices.
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond effectively to production equipment breakdowns.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems supporting chemical manufacturing operations.
Diagnose and repair motors, drives, PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, conveyors, pumps, mixers, and automated production systems.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability, uptime, and production efficiency.
Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation, control devices, and electrical components used in chemical processing operations.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings to identify and resolve equipment issues.
Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazardous energy control, and chemical handling procedures.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives and root cause corrective actions.
