Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking an Electromechanical Design Engineer for its Missiles & Fire Control (MFC) unit in Orlando. You will lead engineering teams, act as the primary technical liaison for customers, and architect high‑density circuit-card packaging for ASIC/SoC/MCP solutions.

You will design electromechanical systems for advanced DoD programs, lead design reviews, and drive risk, schedule, and cost management while mentoring engineers and ensuring performance in harsh environments.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (MS/PhD preferred).
• 10 years of professional electromechanical engineering experience (without a degree).
• 5+ years in electromechanical engineering with relevant scope.
• Proficient in CATIA modeling and electromechanical system design.
• Proficient with CCA/PWB, cable/harness design and development, and electronic packaging design.
• Technical or project leadership across engineering/production lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead IPT and Engineering Lead, directing engineers and serving as primary technical liaison for customers.
• Architect, design, and validate circuit-card packages for ASIC, SoC, and MCP solutions.
• Create high-density circuit cards, cables, interconnects meeting size, weight, power, and security constraints.
• Design electromechanical systems for DoD programs including PCBs, card assemblies, harnesses, and sub-assemblies.
• Lead design‑assurance reviews, track issues, and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Conduct thermal, signal-integrity, and EMC analyses for harsh DoD environments.
• Coordinate with systems, hardware, software, test, and supply‑chain teams to deliver quality on schedule and budget.
• Manage risk, schedule, and earned‑value metrics; report status to senior leadership.
• Set technical direction based on customer requests and program objectives.
• Mentor engineers and foster continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Electromechanical Design Engineer for Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control (MFC)

Our team designs, develops, and manufactures precision‑engagement aerospace and defense systems for the United States and allied militaries, delivering mission‑critical hardware that must meet the toughest reliability, performance, and security standards.

What You Will Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

• Serving as the IPT & Engineering Lead, directing a diverse group of engineers through program development and acting as the primary technical liaison for customers.
• Architecting, designing, and validating advanced circuit‑card packages for ASIC, System‑on‑Chip (SoC), and Multi‑Chip Package (MCP) solutions.
• Creating high‑density circuit cards, cable assemblies, and interconnects that satisfy size, weight, power, security, and performance constraints.
• Designing electromechanical systems for advanced, special‑operations, and IRAD programs—including printed wiring boards, card assemblies, harnesses, and sub‑assemblies.
• Leading design‑assurance reviews, tracking issues, and driving corrective actions to closure.
• Conducting thermal, signal‑integrity, and electromagnetic‑compatibility analyses to ensure robust operation in harsh DoD environments.
• Coordinating with systems, hardware, software, test, and supply‑chain teams to deliver high‑quality results on schedule and within budget.
• Managing risk, schedule, and earned‑value metrics and reporting status to senior leadership.
• Setting clear technical direction for program engineers based on customer requests and program objectives.
• Mentoring and developing engineers, fostering an inclusive environment, and championing continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Communicating technical status, risks, and recommendations clearly to internal stakeholders and external customers.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related STEM field from an accredited university; Master’s degree or PhD preferred

OR

Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline without a degree

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Proficient in CATIA modeling and electromechanical system design
• Proficient with CCA/PWB, cable/harness design and development, and electronic packaging design
• Technical or project leadership experience supporting the production of high‑reliability electronics products
• Project leadership/management experience throughout the engineering/production lifecycle: scoping, sizing, cost estimation, planning, scheduling, staffing, tracking, and earned value management (EVM)
• Experience in presentation, oral and written communication to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges between co‑workers, leaders, and customers
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams across multiple locations
• Experience capturing flowed and derived requirements for electromechanical designs
• Must be a US Citizen; must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00
