Job description

Position Title

Electrician II – Day Shift (8am-4pm)

Employment Type & Location

Regular, Full‑time position at Loyola University Maryland Main Campus (remote and hybrid options available for qualifying states).

Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical work in accordance with recognized procedures, safety precautions, and local code requirements.
  • Install, repair, or maintain transformers, generators, circuit breakers, motor control centers, conduits, and panels.
  • Test electrical circuits and units (wire, fuses, transformers, coils, switches) for continuity and safety.
  • Prepare sketches, estimates, and reports reflecting daily operations and project status.
  • Assist contractors with locating apparatus, monitoring project status, and ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Cooperate on electrical renovations and specialized activities, including arranging on‑call duties.
  • Perform snow or ice removal campus‑wide as directed and assist in other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Attend required training and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of electrical codes.
Education
  • Vocational or technical training required.
  • Associate’s degree or completion of a vocational/technical school program preferred.
Licensure & Certifications
  • JOURNEYSMAN’S or MASTER’S certification (required).
  • Valid driver’s license.
Experience
  • 3–5 years in a lead electrical position with experience in all local electrical codes and standard procedures.
  • Proficiency applying electrical formulas and conversion tables to job requirements.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and on‑call duties as required.
Physical & Environmental Demands
  • Regular lifting of 20–50 pounds; occasional lifting of 100+ pounds.
  • Work on uneven surfaces, in confined spaces, and at heights up to 100 feet.
  • Exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, cold, heat, noise, vibrations, or dampness.
  • Must use protective gear: earplugs, hard hats, masks, gloves, insulated clothing, boots, coats, etc.
