Job summary

Johnson Controls in the United States seeks a Staff Engineer – Electrical/VSD SME to lead cross-functional teams across manufacturing, design, and service to improve electrical systems and VSD performance for chiller products used in data centers.

You will guide technical teams, applying extensive knowledge of electrical systems and VSD designs to drive DFMEA/SFMEA, design reviews, reliability testing, and field support. Travel up to 15% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 8–10 years of related work experience, or 15 years in HVAC/Data Center fields.
• Proven ability to lead an execution team and coordinate resources.
• Strong interpersonal skills for internal/external stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent communication of progress, issues, and customer satisfaction to leadership.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-functional teams (manufacturing, design, quality, supply chain) across regions to drive product/process improvements for electrical systems and VSDs on chiller products used in data centers.
• Provide technical guidance to resolve complex design and application issues based on extensive experience.
• Develop and review DFMEA/SFMEA, design reviews, reliability test plans, and design for manufacturing.
• Create and maintain service literature content and training materials with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and service groups globally to share lessons learned and best practices.
• Lead warranty analysis with cross-disciplinary teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
