Job summary

Slate is seeking a Vehicle Engineering Technician, Electrical to join the Engineering team in Michigan. You will maintain, diagnose, and repair vehicle prototype builds, and calibrate instrumentation under guidance from EE engineering.

You’ll work on CAN/LIN diagnostics, high voltage systems, and collaborate across cross-functional teams. The role reports to Senior Technician, Garage Services; requires hands-on EV experience and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or automotive tech training required, plus relevant certifications.
• Hands-on EV/high-voltage experience and CAN/LIN diagnostics knowledge.
• Experience with automotive OEMs is preferred and highly valued.
• Strong schematics reading, safety mindset, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair vehicle prototype builds.
• Install and calibrate instrumentation in test vehicles.
• Communicate electrical issues to engineering staff for resolution.
• Support vehicle testing and off-site trips as needed.
• Attend daily cross-functional EE issue meetings.
• Manage wire harnesses, fixtures, and EE inventory.
• Work with meters and diagnostic tools to root-cause issues.
